Job Description
POSITION: Direct Youth Care Worker at Missouri River Youth and Shelter Home.
OPENING DATE: Immediately
CLOSING DATE: When applicant is selected.
START DATE: Upon hiring after completing background checks.
SALARY: Beginning wage of up $15.00/hr., increasing to $15.50/hr. upon successfully completing the ninety (90) probationary period. Individuals will also be eligible for vacation leave and sick time upon satisfactorily completing the aforementioned probationary period, and to participate in the retirement program after one (1) year of employment. Health insurance will be available after a 60 day waiting period.

DUTIES: Under direct supervision of the Programs Manager and Assist Programs Manager is responsible for providing for the care, guidance, and supervision of up to 12 males (ages 10-18) within prescribed program policies. Specific duties include the following: scheduling and documenting all youth appointments; maintaining prescriptions; insuring resident's files maintain required records; shopping for groceries and household times; maintaining service rosters; reconcile petty cash; insure the home and van are maintained; provide transportation to youth as necessary; preparing and documenting nutritious and well balanced meals; supervising and monitoring household chores; providing personal I crisis related counseling and social skills training; maintaining daily logs of events and resident's behaviors; attending staff meetings/ training sessions; and resolving milieu disruption issues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Prior experience working with troubled, delinquent, and or severely emotionally disturbed youth. A working knowledge of adolescent behavior and needs. Ability to communicate and relate with youth of divergent backgrounds, staff, social service agencies, and the community at large; to organize one's time efficiently and wisely; and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Demonstrated problem solving skills. A High School Degree or its equivalent is required, and some pertinent post high school education is preferred but not mandatory. OR Any combination of education and relevant/reasonable experience.
Must have a valid Montana Driver’s License. Applicants are subject to child protection, criminal background, and driving record checks. Any adverse reports/findings will disqualify you for employment.
